We use it to replace milk in cereal, coffee, smoothies and some cooking. We started to use almond milk but found that there was not enough protein in it to keep us going. Our son is allergic to nuts and it didn't make sense to buy two products. Regarding sugar content, even cow's milk has anywhere between 1 & 2 teaspoons of sugar that occurs naturally. So the amounts in a cup of this version of Silk is not going to put me into a tailspin.

I'm a Registered Dietitian and I am concerned with the nutrition claims on the website. Soy milk is fortified with Vitamin D2, which is not as easily absorbed as Vitamin D3. Soy milk does not have 50% more calcium than dairy milk either as you can see in the nutrition facts table on this website. It's still a good choice nutritionally but the health claims are being exaggerated.

Smoothness is too artificial

By

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

Silk was my favorite brand previously until your company changed the recipe for the "smoothness" of the soy, cashew and almond milk. Go back to the drawing board, learn from Kikkoman. Kikkoman knows how to make natural smoothness compares to your company "fake" smoothness. Asians will not buy your product!

Sugar?

By

from Ware, Ma

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

Out of all the soy / nut milks I've tried Silk is by far the best. The creamiest for coffee, as well. I'm a new vegan, & in my research I've learned that sugar is filltered through animal bone char... Is this true with the sugar you are using in Silk Soy Milk?

Too much sugar

By

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

My first time trying soy milk. I bought the vanilla flavor simply just want to get away from cow milk. Brought it home and tasted it, OMG. I cannot believe how sweet it is. It's like drinking syrup. Why do you have to put sugar on everything???? It's supposed to be healthy. Cut the sugar please!

I would not buy this product again!

By

from Charleston, SC

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

I normally read labels on everything, but this one got past me. Caution: This soymilk brand is made on a production line that also processes tree nuts, which are foods that my husband is allergic to! I didn't expect that, and he had an allergic reaction requiring medical attention.

Finally!

By

from Palm Coast, Florida

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

Been trying to get away from dairy due to concerns for animal welfare and cholesterol. I've tried soy creamers before but they left a nasty after taste - however, I just tried (again) Silk dairy free soy creamer and it is DELICIOUS! Even my husband likes it. Thank you!

Yay!!

By

from Leetonia, Ohio

Comments about Silk Original Soymilk:

I have a son who is 2 and he developed an allergy to milk when he drinks it his face breaks out horribly in a big rash we gave him silk soy milk first with some strawberry flavoring in it for a bit so he would get used to it but now he drinks it straight unless he decides he wants flavoring but I'm just glad we found a milk that would still satisfy him while giving him the proper nutrition he needs for being a toddler!!! Thanks for a great product!

I bought this soy milk as a dairy alternative. Why am I still having dairy allergy reactions with this soy milk?
